The tooth chisel, also called a toothed chisel, is used for smoothing after sharpening. Use a chisel that is large enough in relation to the size of your workpiece. With these chisels you can work in stone types up to and including Mohs hardness 8.
When used correctly, all the teeth of the tooth chisel touch the stone. If you tilt the chisel so that all the energy of the hammer is on one tooth, your chisel will break quickly! Always use an iron or soft iron hammer or mallet when using chisels with a widia tip. A hammer made of harder steel will cause strong vibrations in the chisel, which can damage the widia insert.
A chisel with Widia insert is best placed on a diamond grindstone. If the chisel needs to be ground, it is best to offer it in one of our shops. This requires special tools.
