Description
The Silicone Addition Colourless 5 is a 2-component (Platinum) poly-addition moulding silicone that cures at room temperature. The silicones are liquid after mixing. The silicone has a very faint yellowish glow over time, but can be coloured perfectly.
The ductility and strength of this silicone make it widely applicable. These include highly detailed candle moulds as well as masks and props for the film industry.

Note: The pot life / demoulding time is strongly temperature dependent! At a higher temperature, the processing time and demoulding time are shorter.

These silicones can be easily mixed by hand or by machine. Mix the A and B components carefully and in the indicated ratio (100 parts by weight A and 100 parts by weight B). Process the mixture within the pot life and wait until it is fully cured before demoulding. You can speed up the curing process by heating the whole thing. Every 10 degrees the time is approximately halved. Make sure that the air bubbles have less time to escape in this case.
You can mix this silicone with the silicone addition colourless 50. The ratio then determines the final hardness of a silicone between Shore A 5 and Shore A 50. Please note that you have to combine both A and B variants. For example, to obtain Shore 18.5, use 35 g Shore 5 A component and 35 g Shore 5 B component with 15 g Shore 50 A component and 15 g Shore 50 B component (i.e. 70 g Shore 5 mixture with 30 g) grams Shore 50 mixture).
Additional information
Trapping air bubbles is best prevented by aspirating the silicone immediately after mixing. To avoid air bubbles, stir the A and B components well but slowly without hitting air. It is best to make a movement of 8.
If you want to lower the shore (hardness), you can add silicone oil from the webshop. Note: Silicone oil does not cross-link in the silicone and migrates to the surface over time.
If you want to fill in the spatula rather than the silicone, you can add silicone Thixo A (note: not silicone Thixo C!). You can also add fumed silica. You can colour the silicone intensively with silicone dye.
Note: This is an additive silicone. These silicones can be poisoned by sulphur, nitrogen, amino compounds and metal salts. If you are not sure whether the products you use (including gloves, spatulas and cups) contain these ingredients, do a small test first. These substances are found in many latex gloves, some plastilines, paints and adhesives, condensation silicones, 1-component silicone sealants, natural rubbers and 3D printing materials (especially stereolithography). If you wish to continue using this, you must apply a protective layer of polyvinyl alcohol.
Packing
The products are packed as standard in sets with the same weight quantity A and B. The components cannot be ordered separately.
Durability
Provided the silicone is stored in a cool and frost-free place in closed packaging, the shelf life is at least one year.
Safety requirements
If you work with the silicone frequently, it is recommended to wear gloves during application and to ventilate the room well. Safety instructions can be found in the safety data sheet.
