Glass fibre is used as the last layer to obtain a beautiful surface, or as the first layer in the mould after the gelcoat. The normal glass mat can give a mark in the gelcoat due to shrinkage in the polyester resin. This is prevented by laminating a glass fleece between the gelcoat and glass mat.
