The flat chisel, also called flat chisel or board iron, is used for flat chopping after sharpening. The flat chisel is also ideal for "cutting" letters and fine shapes, for example. Use a chisel that is sufficiently wide in relation to the size of your workpiece. With these chisels you can work in stone types up to and including Mohs hardness 8.
Always use an iron or soft iron hammer or mallet when using chisels with a widia tip. A hammer made of harder steel will cause strong vibrations in the chisel, which may damage the widia insert.
A chisel with Widia insert is best placed on a diamond grindstone. If the chisel needs sharpening, it is best to offer it in one of our shops. This requires special tools.
